Get Involved on Campus

  • Get InVOLved On Campus

  • The Student Success Center is currently recruiting Peer Mentors for Fall 2011 First Year Studies Classes.  As a peer mentor, you will learn essential communication, leadership, and presentation skills that will impress anyone looking at your resume.  In addition, it is very fun and rewarding to work with first year students and help them acclimate to university life.

New Peer mentors participate in a training session during the second session of Spring 2011 in order to prepare for the Fall 2011 class.  In the fall, each mentor will be paired with a faculty member and given a class of approximately 25 freshmen to guide during their first semester or session of college life.  The peer mentor and faculty member work together to instruct first year students on many subjects such as time management, campus resources, leadership opportunities, and of course Tennessee Traditions.  Peer mentors are given the chance to work one-on-one with students as well as in a classroom setting.  It is a great way to make university contacts, create a positive change for the university, and give back to the community.
