Kappa Alpha Order
Pi, The University of Tennessee at Knoxville
Kappa Alpha Order seeks to create a lifetime experience which centers on reverence to God, duty, honor, character and gentlemanly conduct as inspired by Robert E. Lee, our spiritual founder.
The University of Tennessee Knoxville is home to Pi chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. Our active chapter consists of 44 members, with 14 new members to be initiated on October 23, 2009. This will bring our chapter to 58 men, after just 18 months chartered on the UTK campus. A premier southern fraternity, Kappa Alpha’s motto is “Excellence is Our Aim.” Our members are widely regarded as the “gentlemen of the fraternity world.”
Pi chapter seeks to achieve excellence with a balance between social, academic, and philanthropic ventures. We host numerous mixers, date parties, and at least one formal each semester. Academically, Kappa Alpha is the number one fraternity on campus. Pi chapter was awarded the Dean’s Cup for Academic Excellence for the 2008-09 school year, after placing second in GPA during the fall, and first in the spring with a 3.26 chapter GPA. In addition to our academic endeavors, Pi is extremely involved in the community. KA’s national philanthropy is the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Pi chapter raised over $1500 last year for MDA. Furthermore, our brothers are encouraged to take advantage of other opportunities provided by the chapter to better our community including work at Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army, and performing outdoor work at the local confederate museum, the Bleak House.
We are looking forward to a brand new chapter house being constructed on campus soon, with groundbreaking anticipated later this year. Overall, Pi Chapter is excited and motivated to carry on the great tradition of Kappa Alpha on the state’s flagship campus.
